A Marketing System – Every Successful Business Must Have One

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

The definition of Marketing is the total of activities involved in the transfer of goods from the producer or seller to the consumer or buyer, including advertising, shipping, storing, and selling. This includes everything from how your phone is answered to your voicemail to how your employees are dressed to how your business cards look to how your offices are decorated. Everything speaks in marketing.

Most people jump into their business and start running full steam ahead without a strategy or a plan for how to market their service or product. This is like going into battle and saying ‘Ready’, ‘Fire’… ‘Aim’. The steps are out of order. You get ready and aim at your target. Once its in your sights, you fire. The same order of things occurs when developing a marketing plan.

Your Marketing system should include goals, activities, and specific strategies for how to accomplish the above mentioned tasks. Some research into what the market wants is imperative. Remember we’re living in a microwave society. People want things quick, fast, and in a hurry, with the least amount of inconvenience to them. So one of the questions you have to ask yourself is what is the quickest, safest, most cost effective way to get your product to the purchaser? Can it be delivered electronically? Does it need to be sent by a mail carrier? How will the costs of these avenues be figured in?

Traditional marketing tries to appeal to the masses, but it would be better to locate your niche, or those who are specifically interested in what you’re offering, and appeal to them. That way your percentage of conversions will be greater and you won’t waste time and money on people who are not at all interested in what you’re offering. You want to spend your marketing energy on clients who want what you have.

Your system should initially include a Social Marketing strategy which incorporates sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube and a Content Marketing strategy like articles, videos, or press releases. You can also include a paid Marketing strategy like PPC or banner advertising, if you have a bit of a budget to work with. To start out, you should pick one strategy and master it. Once you’ve gotten that one mastered, add another. You don’t want to spread yourself too thin from a time and a money standpoint. You want to do what works.

Once you’ve selected these, specify the exact tasks that need to be done daily in order to achieve the goals. For example, on Facebook, you should find and join groups of individuals that are interested in your products or services. Connect with people who are going in the same direction as you. Provide value to these groups and individuals. Don’t just pitch your business. That is a huge turn off.

Be mindful of your time management. If you’re not careful you could find yourself spending hours doing tasks that are not directly connected to the goals you’ve set. Scheduling of your time is a key element. Prioritize the money-making tasks. Of course, supporting tasks must be done. But be mindful of the time you give to them. Some things are good to do, but they don’t add value and thus don’t make you any money.

If You’re Trying to Market Your MLM Business without a Marketing System, You’re Just Wasting Time and Money. A simple, step-by-step Marketing System could mean the difference between success and failure. So this must be one of your first steps in the process as it’s basically your roadmap. Home Business Models

Who should I listen to when I am starting my home business? The best voice is your gut instinct. The gut instinct has been extensively analyzed but the results have not been satisfactory. Instead we have egotistical so called business men that attempt to justify their arrogance using gut instinct. In some ways this is a concept that has not place in modern business. It relies on fallible emotions and unquantifiable influences. That can be very worrying if the business decision is going to involve the movement of billions of dollars. That is why it is never advisable to listen to business models that are constructed by someone else.

Mr. Donald Trump can be very irritating. He has recently indicated that he could run for the office of President in the USA. Of course all that would do is to ensure that Sarah Palin or any Republican candidate loses. However the substantive point is that he has gut instinct. He knows that there is an opportunity to make money and will take it. A few months back there was a controversy with that failed beauty queen called Carrie Prejean. Apparently she expressed some homophobic sentiments. The political left came back at her and Mr. Trump valiantly defended her.

The cynics might argue that this is a ploy to keep conservatives on the Trump Empire. People with conservative leanings can sway the market if they put their money where their mouths are. Mr. Trump is an expert at self publicity and the ability to read the market. However not many people can get away with the things that he can get away with. If you decided to behave like him with your home business, then you will be called all the names under the sun. You will also probably go bankrupt.

Looking at that example it is quite clear that gut instinct is innate. You either have it or you don’t. That is why Mr. Trump was able to rebuild an empire from scratch. The business models that work for Bill Gates might never work for your business. You cannot afford to be experimental when you have poured your life savings into a business. That means that you will replace gut instinct with simple business models that do not open up unmitigated risks for you. Gut instinct is good to read about in business schools but is not really appropriate for your home business.

Simple Home Business Ideas For Beginners

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Are you tired of rushing day in and day out to a 9-to-5 job? If you are, perhaps, you should try out one of the many very simple home business ideas you’ll find if you look around.

There are many advantages of running your own home business rather than working for a company. You have a more flexible schedule. You work in your own space and at your own time. In other words, you get a chance to spend more relaxing and quality time with your friends or loved ones.

Depending on the number of hours you put in, the effort you expend, and other factors, you can earn as much money as you wish. You might be more relaxed with no boss to check on your work. Hence, you might be capable of higher productivity and better quality of work. Due to the advent of the worldwide web, it is possible to try out various home business ideas online these days.

What is your specialty? Are you good at cooking, gardening or sewing? Once you have determined your specialty, setting up your business is much easier and simpler. Some people are good at baking and designing lovely wedding cakes or cakes for other special occasions.

Others might be good at baking various types of cakes like chocolate cakes, banana cakes and orange cakes. They may even have their own unique recipes, perhaps, passed down from one generation to another. Homemade cakes can be best sellers if they taste better than the store-bought variety. Alternatively, you can bake homemade cookies or cup cakes for special occasions.

For those who are skilled at sewing, you can offer your services for plain sewing or embroidery stitches. Simply purchase some colorful pieces of plain material. Then, make some embroidery stitches to create eye-catching designs and colors. After some cutting and plain sewing, you can sell the embroidered cloth as coverings for sofa, tablecloths, cushion covers, pillow covers or other items.

Other than selling products, you can sell your service. If you are a qualified accountant, writer, plumber, engineer or any other profession, simply set up your business online and offer your services as a freelancer. Do not be worried about the possible income. Some of the aforementioned products would most probably cost much more in shops, especially embroidered materials.

By buying in bulk, you can save much money on raw materials. If you use a particular shipping company, you can negotiate for special discounts on shipping charges. The trick to a successful home business is the pricing of your service or product based on quality and customer service. Many people prefer to buy homemade cakes or other foodstuff at good prices, rather than buying at shops.

In the case of freelancing services, many companies are outsourcing their work to cut down on operational costs. Hence, there are various job opportunities for those who are serious about setting up their own home based business.

Are you looking for some great home business ideas to get you started online? Be sure to visit my site to find many business ideas for beginners.

How To Start A New Business That Offers More For Less

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

I’m confused by the question. Are you hoping to find a mentor that will come beside you and show you exactly what to do to start a new business? Maybe you’re looking for a business opportunity that comes with some clear instructions and/or a mentor to guide you along?

I have started a number of new businesses through the years, so perhaps I can give you some insight as to how you can also start a new business yourself. Some businesses you can spend very little to get started, while others will cost tens of thousands.

Lets ask some questions How much money are you willing to invest? This is a fair question. If you are hoping to find a business that makes you a living, chances are you will need to invest some money. You may not want to hear that, but you know it’s the truth. Lets come back to this later and see if there are new business opportunities that require less up front investment.

A new business requires your time. Sure you are going to find a number of opportunities that will promise a few hours a week of your time, but if you really want to start a new business that will grow, and grow strong, you will need to invest your time to build a strong foundation. Try to get around this and your business will fail.

Who are your customers? Do you want to start a new business that you love, of course! But if there is a limited client base? I don’t recommend it. Or, do you want a new business that has millions of client potential? Simply asked, do you want a business that makes a little money or a lot of money?

You can tell I am guiding you down a specific road can’t you? Let me ask you this question… Do you think that every sales person selling products and services, love and believe in their product or service? They should.

Years ago I worked at a tool and die plant. I walked into the office one day and heard a hardy laugh to my left. Ben was just off the phone and couldn’t contain himself. He said, “I just got off the phone with a guy who was telling me that I really need his product. I asked him what company he worked for and he couldn’t remember.” Everyone needs to start somewhere, you can bet the fellow found the company name before his next call.

When starting a new business, you better believe in your company, and proud to put your name on it. Let that sink in. There is a lot of junk, and it doesn’t take much to spot them. Cash images in the page header, fast and beautiful cars… These businesses are working on your emotions and greed. I’m certainly not against the finer things in life, but if that is the foundation of your business, it is going to fail.

If flashy websites are what it takes to get you to sign up, then flashy websites will be what you have to use to sell to the next person. Be careful.

If you really want to know how to start a new business, you first need to have a business to start. So lets look at that.

I grew up in the construction industry. My father and brothers were all into home building, and on the side before I went full time, I designed house plans. I later also went into home building and built a number of million dollar homes on the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Along with these businesses came employees, liability insurance and huge overhead costs. There is always that occasional unhappy customer that doesn’t pay, and quit frankly, the thing you were passionate about, is now your nightmare. You know what? That is business.

Or is it? Is there another way to start a new business without all these expenses? Yes!

You don’t even know it, but you are a part of one of the businesses that I am very proud of. You see, one of the businesses that I enjoy the most is getting the word out to people just like you. I enjoy writing to let people know who are interested in starting a new business that promoting this company is as simple as writing an article, which by the way happens to be free, and you’re reading it.

Do you think you could write an article like this to tell others about what you found and believe in? If yes, then you can start a new business today.

I lost you didn’t I? What is a business? Business is the transaction of services between two or more people or entities. You have something to sell that someone else wants to buy. It is as simple as that. The next question is what you have to sell, and who would want to buy it.

What do you want? What are you looking for? Would you believe me if I said, join XYZ company, sell widgets, you’re in business… No.

The business I want to introduce you to is CarbonCopyPRO. An Internet marketing company that uses marketing such as article writing as one of many marketing avenues to promote the wealth education services by Wealth Master International. If you want to learn more about a company that I am very impressed with and proud to add my name to, click on the link at the bottom.

But your question was, how to start a new business. So that is what I am answering. Do you really want to sell health products or cell phone gadgets? I don’t! People selling health products do not really care about or want to sell health products. Not really. They want to sell the system, that is where they make their money… The system.

CarbonCopyPRO is a marketing system that promotes an educational service that teaches you and others over time how to build real and lasting wealth. I don’t know how to say it any simpler than that. In the years ahead, you will be taught by millionaires and billionaires how to invest your money like the rich and famous do.

The rich are not interested in buying and selling health products or cell phones. They are interested in Real Estate, stocks, bonds and other money leveraging commodities.

However, CarbonCopyPRO is the marketing avenue that can take a person like yourself, with an investment of less than $50 to check it out, and only $395 to join and will teach you everything you need to know on how to start and grow a new business that in time through the education of the wealthy expand into much more. Nothing on earth comes close to what is offered in a business. And it’s guaranteed or you get your money back.

Change Management In The New Business Climate

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

The rollercoaster of the economy has resulted in the need for business owners to adapt and be more flexible in their management styles. While the unemployment numbers have continued to rise dramatically, the customer base has shifted and customers have begun to re-evaluate their budget and needs. Therefore, creating a positive atmosphere that provides employees with the impetus to think and work out-of-the-box is more important than ever before.

Employees who feel invested in the company they work with, often have a personal desire to maintain the stability of the company. Companies that take the biggest hit in a bad economy are those that have created distinct separation between employees and leadership. The lack of personal investment in the company results in employees that are more focused on getting by and less willingness to exceed basic expectations.

Creating an atmosphere that encourages employees to exceed expectations and rewarding achievements is one way to set a path for growth. However, in order to motivate employees to perform at this level, there must be a concentrated effort on the part of leadership to create a dialogue and inclusive environment in the work place.

Staff meetings are a great way to increase the dialogue between leadership and staff. Using the staff meeting as a means to encourage, train and support staff instead of “give” information will create a dynamic of cross communication. This is a vital part of generating the level of personal investment in the company that is required for it to grow.

It is important that staff meetings, including all staff, are held on a regular basis. In many cases, the staff that can save the company money, have ideas for improvement, see a proactive answer to a challenge, are never given the opportunity to share this information with leadership. When planning takes place, it often includes middle managers, managers and leadership which greatly diminishes the ability of the company to take advantages of the knowledge of individuals working “in the trenches”.

A way to get the creative ideas needed to solve problems, sending a challenge to staff prior to a staff meeting will encourage dialogue. Most staff have ideas for how the company can save money in the areas where they work. The greatest savings for a company comes from the ability to adapt and reduce steps and materials used to complete daily tasks. In some cases, the suggestion may be to move task areas to a closer proximity to a location that will reduce steps in completing the task.

Many people do not consider the that small savings and minimal investment can have a great impact on returns. Saving steps in tasks, changing the way that materials are used and creating a proactive work environment that encourages dialogue, saves a company money and gives it the ability to grow during harsh economic times.

New Business Credit Card – Why You May Need To Switch Cards

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

If you have been a business owners for a few years, you may want to look into getting new business credit card. The benefits and advantages of current lines of credit far exceed those from a few years back. You may even save your business some money if you switch to a new business credit card.

Let’s look at some ways why choosing a new business card may be a good idea:

1. No Expiration Of Rewards – Running and maintaining a business probably takes up most of your time. Using up your rewards should not be a worry to you.

Recently, many lenders have been offering a “no expire” clause for the rewards you build on your new business credit card. You can allow the rewards to accumulate for as long as you need.

I think this is especially helpful for air miles.

2. Fixed APR Rates When Economy Is Struggling – Another reason why you may want to change in your old card for a new business credit card is the low interest rates offered during a struggling economy.

With a little bit of research, you can find an excellent fixed APR rate that will last for the entire length of the time you have the new business credit card.

3. Allowed Transfers – This goes along with number 2. If you do decide to get a new business credit card, look for one that allows balance transfers.

You will save a good amount of money on the new interest rate only when the lender allows you to transfer the balance.

4. Higher Percentage Of Cash Back – I recently saw a card with a percentage back rate of 5%. That is fantastic for a business line of credit. In the past, it was common practice to offer 1% back. I always hoped companies would offer a higher rate for being a loyal customer. They must have heard my thoughts and wishes!

I believe this is a great time to look for a new business credit card. You can find better reward options, rewards with no expiration dates, better interest rated fixed in for the duration of the life of the card, and you will save your company money by transferring all balances to a card with lower interest.

Finding a card with all of these options will take you some time. It more than likely will not be the first card you come across in your search. However, you have the right (as long as your credit is good) to change cards whenever you want. Now may be a good time to do it.

Busting the Myths About Advertising a New Business

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

They are often told to you by advertising reps. But the reality is if you advertise for 12-weeks you’re NOT going to somehow get better results.

So unless you’re a large, big brand agency or something like that what I would be focusing on is measuring everything you do like a salesman because the bottom line is that very few people who sell you the advertising have tracked the ads that they actually run.

And it doesn’t matter if you’re cold calling, advertising, doing stuff on the internet or using direct mail you need to measure everything you do accurately. The problem is that you’ve never been taught how to do this.

The good news is it doesn’t cost a lot of money to get started. What you really need is the right information and lots and lots of action.

Look at yourself as a scientist who comes up with a hypothesis and says: “Hey, I’ll try a joint venture strategy and see if that will work.” Now that joint venture strategy either works or it doesn’t and then you go into the next hypothesis and the next hypothesis. And what you want to be doing as a business owner is having as many hypotheses as you possibly can and then implementing them.

Once you start to do that and once you get an advertisement that works for you or an internet campaign that works or whatever, then you can start to use that money to snowball other advertising campaigns and other marketing campaigns.

To get there you don’t need to spend a lot of money. It could be a matter of sending out 2,000 flyers which would cost you $500 – and then you can send out 50,000 flyers. But without the knowledge of how to actually craft your marketing you’re stuck in a business which is full of limitations. You can’t travel. You can’t give you family what they need. You’re always working hard rather than working smart and you can’t take time off and get the freedom that was the main reason you got into business in the first place.

But once you really grasp how to generate customers, that will truly change your life. You’ll have more time. You’ll be able to travel. You’ll be able to pay off your home sooner. And you will have the peace of mind of knowing you will generate a certain amount of business every single week. It’ll make you a happier, more relaxed person and your family and friends will love you for it.

Tips for Repeat Business from Customers

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Repeat BusinessWin repeat business from existing customers is important for small business owners. It costs less in terms of time, effort and money that the work of setting new customers. This article describes how a small business owner can improve their chances of obtaining additional job offers from existing customers.

Always meet deadlines and try to deliver the job ahead of schedule. As you consistently deliver high quality work on time or even before their deadlines, the client will trust on you as the first place when they have extra work because they know you can be riley upon to fulfill your commitments in a timely manner.

Bear this in mind when negotiating deadlines; do not feel obligated to accept the deadline, which is too tight. It is better to ask for a little extra time in which you can deliver an eminent quality production than it is to agree with a tight deadline and produce inferior work. The customer will be more likely to remember the quality of your work than the fact that you met a tight deadline.

Always respond to emails and phone calls immediately. This does not mean you should rush to answer the question of a client. When you do not know the answer sometimes, just send the client a quick response thanking you for your question, and say that going back to them with an answer as soon as possible. It is much better to keep communication channels open in this way to ignore an email or call a customer because they are unsure of the correct answer.

At the end of a project, give thanks to the client as the opportunity to do work with them on the project. Say we have delighted working with you, and we look forward to put the project jointly again in the future. Express your true feelings about their working relationship without being aggressive or over-the-top.

Show Me the Money! – the Financial Truth of New Business

Monday, August 9th, 2010

“I want to start my own business and be my own boss!” Sound familiar? It may, because nearly 95 percent of people have this pass through their thoughts at some point in their working lifetime.

“Get rich quick” schemes never work. Yet we are repeatedly bombarded with TV and other advertizing promising us riches and status if we join their programs to gain “financial success.” But regardless of if the program they offer is a valid means of making an income or being successful, the truth is, new businesses rarely show any amount of profit in their first two years.

It has been estimated that as many as 90 percent of new businesses fail in their first year. Lack of planning is the number one cause of new business failure; “financial planning” tops that list. Being financial smart is perhaps your best chance at success. Follow the basic guidelines listed here:

• Avoid business loans requiring the collateral of your home.

• Never mortgage (or sell) your home to finance your business.

• Never use a credit card to start or operate a new business.

• Keep your business idea in proportion with the amount of money you have available.

Use common sense; if your means of financing your new business might potentially put a strain on your personal finances, look for other means to support the new venture. One should NEVER try starting a business to “save” a poor personal financial situation, unless the new business requires no monetary investment and can eventually supplement the personal income. Consider a business which utilizes your skills or services and requires little or no financial investment to start.

Be financially prepared to survive your first two years in a new business. Allow for personal income needs as well as the businesses financial requirements. You may need to “keep your day job” until the business gets established.

Better to be one of the 10 percent of new businesses who succeed, rather than facing financial and emotional devastation due to poor financial planning.

Advertising a New Business – What to Focus On

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

The first step, in my view, if I was starting business today would be starting out by just focusing all my attention on getting better marketing. So, I’d be spending most of my time on marketing. If you’re in business you should spend 50 percent of your time on advertising and promotion, particularly if you’re in a product focused business. If you’re in a service focused business and you get really busy, obviously you need to cut that down, which is one of the disadvantages of a service based business.

Let’s imagine you’re a mechanic. So you start your mechanics business. What’s the number one thing you need in order to succeed? Well, you need money. How do you get money? You need new customers. So what I would be doing is focusing on testing – 3, 6, 9, 12 different marketing campaigns as quickly as possible. And you may want to get some campaigns going and you want some templates for joint ventures and internet marketing and getting the lead generation process happening both online and offline.

But the key is to focus a minimum of 50 percent of your time on your advertising and promotion and develop relationships with your clients to get them coming in.

So let’s say you send out a flyer. You spend a thousand bucks on this flyer and get $500 dollars back. I’ll put that one aside. You try something else. You spend a thousand dollars. Well you get $800 dollars back, okay I’ll put that aside. You try something else. You spend a thousand dollars. You get $3,000 dollars back. Now there’s no reason why you can’t replicate that over and over and over again so that for every thousand dollars that you’re investing you’re getting $3,000 dollars back and maybe you can do that every week.

So if you send out 5,000 flyers in your local area there’s no reason why you can’t send out 5,000 flyers next week and 5,000 flyers the next week and 5,000 flyers the next week and all of a sudden you’ve got yourself a business. What some people do is they’ll focus too much on systems and procedures getting things right in their database. This is important, but without customers nothing else matters. So the important thing is to get the customers and then get all those systems set up. That’s what I would be doing if I was setting up a new business.
