Consistency of change brings to the fore what is essential in a business enterprise for its healthy existence. A new business model brings forth the question of what is essential to that particular model. But, how does one know the essentials of a new business model? The answer is found by reverting back to the bottom line rule.

And the rule is that a business enterprise must engage in profitable exercises to sustain itself. Now a days when new approaches are thought of in the myriads of technology trade and industry trends, competitions, markets, economies and political scenarios, some things some times go a miss. For example the profits. This is evident mostly in those areas where the entry level is minimal and sky is the limit so to speak.

A few things to keep in mind firmly while coming up with new business model plans, are quite basic yet they need to be stressed as they are in a different shape for an innovative business. Those important few things also could be quite different for each case. The important thing is to identify them well in advance, recognize them for what they are and build the innovative plans as creatively as one desires as long as those “few things in the mind” are still holding true.

Now what are these “few things in the mind”? these few things in the mind are simply the things which connect back to the bottom line rule. For example, a new catering service has come up with a great innovative business plan for themselves where a diner gets to choose the menu and dine for free but at a place where the caterer wants anywhere in the vicinity of customers choice. Great, the customer gets to dine free, whoa! Now who will deny such an opportunity?

Now what are the essential things? Where should the caterer start? How does the new business model caterer identify the essentials of his enterprise? what “few things in the mind” are to be kept firmly in his mind?

For simplicity sake we keep the list of essentials and “few things in the mind”, short, so as to understand the point at hand. Among the general essentials are great service, memorable experience, and fantastic food. But for this particular business model another set of essentials are necessary. Like having a clout to be presenting their dinner at interesting places night after night and that too free to the customer. Like having great customers among venue owners who love it that the caterer brings people who look happy and satisfied and then spend more than the dinner on other items at the venue. Or return to the venue later as customers. It is essential for this innovative business model to have pro location scouts. But wait, how does the caterer identify these. He does by the old adage, follow the cash.

What are the “few things in the mind” for the caterer to keep firm? The caterer has to be paid happily by the venue owners and the free diners have to be the right target clients for this to work. So in short he has to keep in mind firmly that he is a catalyst for both his free diners and the paying venue owners. surely he is not a caterer but a catalyst caterer.

How does this connect back to the bottom line worries? it connects in two places diner and venue owner. As long as he is able to bring the right target audience to the venue and as long as he can open new or interesting vistas for diners with his magic potion of food experience and service to convert them to paying diners as well, the caterer might have a shot at his new business model in the competitive innovative business environment.

If there is a new innovative business model to be considered, its new bottom line worries need to be recognized and supported by its essentials for the venture to succeed.

Advertising a New Business – What to Focus On

The first step, in my view, if I was starting business today would be starting out by just focusing all my attention on getting better marketing. So, I’d be spending most of my time on marketing. If you’re in business you should spend 50 percent of your time on advertising and promotion, particularly if you’re in a product focused business. If you’re in a service focused business and you get really busy, obviously you need to cut that down, which is one of the disadvantages of a service based business.

Let’s imagine you’re a mechanic. So you start your mechanics business. What’s the number one thing you need in order to succeed? Well, you need money. How do you get money? You need new customers. So what I would be doing is focusing on testing – 3, 6, 9, 12 different marketing campaigns as quickly as possible. And you may want to get some campaigns going and you want some templates for joint ventures and internet marketing and getting the lead generation process happening both online and offline.

But the key is to focus a minimum of 50 percent of your time on your advertising and promotion and develop relationships with your clients to get them coming in.

So let’s say you send out a flyer. You spend a thousand bucks on this flyer and get $500 dollars back. I’ll put that one aside. You try something else. You spend a thousand dollars. Well you get $800 dollars back, okay I’ll put that aside. You try something else. You spend a thousand dollars. You get $3,000 dollars back. Now there’s no reason why you can’t replicate that over and over and over again so that for every thousand dollars that you’re investing you’re getting $3,000 dollars back and maybe you can do that every week.

So if you send out 5,000 flyers in your local area there’s no reason why you can’t send out 5,000 flyers next week and 5,000 flyers the next week and 5,000 flyers the next week and all of a sudden you’ve got yourself a business. What some people do is they’ll focus too much on systems and procedures getting things right in their database. This is important, but without customers nothing else matters. So the important thing is to get the customers and then get all those systems set up. That’s what I would be doing if I was setting up a new business.

I understand that contemplating this is very scary for most business owners.

Rest assured even for the best business owners, going through this phase can be a little challenging at times – yet the rewards of doing it far outweigh not letting go.

I guess you’re wondering how you can possibly rely on your staff to run your business the way you want, and expect, it to be run.

Here’s the key.

Your staff must be up to it.

And for them to be ‘up-to-it’ there are a few things that you need to have in place…

So let’s get into it…

Most business owners start their business doing ‘everything’ yet as the business grows they come to the realization that they can’t do everything anymore.

It just isn’t possible.

Yet it can be pretty scary handing things over to someone else to do.

Because you’ve done it so well, you may be thinking “what if the person stuffs it up”… or what if they don’t do it as well as you do it?

What will your customers think?

After all, you know all the hard work you’ve done to grow your business to this point – so you definitely don’t want anyone to stuff it up now!

This is especially the case if the business isn’t making great money. In fact that’s probably the most difficult time to ‘let-go’.

The thing that bugs most business owners that are in this position is this…

You know that to grow you’ve got to let go, but in letting go you’ve got to pay someone to do it, and if they stuff it up it’ll cost you money…

And you don’t want to lose money. And you don’t want your ‘baby’, your business to suffer.

And because most business owners tend to be ‘control freaks’ and it can be hard letting go of the ‘control’.

To ease your mind on this, make sure you recruit someone with the right skills and test them on it so that they are up to your standard. If they aren’t, train them up, or get someone new. Simple – the key there is that you must have a great recruitment system – I’ll talk more about this in an upcoming business growth article.

#2. – That they will do a great job.

If you’ve followed a top notch recruitment system like the one I teach my clients – rest assured your employee will most definitely have the skill set… and they’ll also exceed another four key criteria that you must take every employee through.

If they you have done that – the employ will do what you require.

If they can’t you either train them up, or trade them out and get someone new that can do it.

#3. – You’ll want to know that the money you’re spending on them will pay off.

How will you know and measure this?

Well, once again, a top notch recruitment system is crucial for your employee to be able to breeze through this step. Let’s assume you’re following my recruitment system.

And you’re also following my recommendations on having key performance indicators so that you know exactly what returns you’re getting from each employee.

Now for any employee, you can put them on for a trial period. So trial them to make sure you’re getting your moneys worth.

If they’re not up to scratch train them up, or trade them for someone new.

#4. – You’ll want to know that they’ll continue to do a great job, without you having to continually check up on them.

Well, if you follow my recruiting system, my behaviour test method, and set up your business with 3 crucial elements to attract the right people … you’ll be home and hosed.

As well as the 3 key things I’ve just mentioned – there’s one key element that brings all 3 together – and if works brilliantly. Yet I reserve that especially for my 1-on-1 clients.

When you combine all 4 you can successfully let go seemingly effortlessly.

Be warned though…

Once you find a good person, they’ll fly through all your old jobs in just a matter of hours… the same jobs that used to take you weeks to do!

If you’ve ever hired someone good, you’ll know what I mean.

At this point you’ll have a new fear… which will be.

‘Can I bring in enough work to keep this person busy?’

Well that’s what I work with my clients on, growing your business to keep them busy!

It’ll force you to grow… and if you don’t you’ll lose money.

So it’s a lot of responsibility.

You need to look at the impact ‘letting go’ can have on your business.

All of a sudden, if you do it right – your business can lunge forward. Or if you do it wrong – it can drive you down.

Look at things like the impact of the extra wages you’ll be paying and work out your weekly, monthly and annual financial’s to calculate your new break evens and how much more you need to bring in so that the business will make a profit on employees working for you.

As well, figure out your marketing to bring in the additional business to coincide with their employment so that the business can be profitable and cash flow positive every step of the way.

Sound daunting?

Well that’s fine, that’s where I help my clients in my 1-on-1 business coaching program. And that’s how they can grow and keep profitable, and cash flow positive.

What happens is this, you’re so caught up in the “how to” of doing things, for example, how to build a website, build a capture page, hook up an autoresponder, drive traffic, build a blog, etc., that it’s no mystery that you’re stuck in neutral. Sure, all of these tangible items need to be connected and up and running. However, there’s something vastly more important that needs to be connected and up and running BEFORE all of the above…and that, my friend, is your MIND SET! Yep! You heard me…and you must harness the correct thought process (mind set) before any good can enter your life…period!

So, there you go, trying to connect the pieces of your marketing system puzzle with the WRONG mind set. Again, how do you expect your marketing system to be working properly, when your mind set isn’t working properly? Instill this in your brain, the biggest mistake marketers make when embarking on a network marketing business opportunity is arrive with the nine to five or negative mind set.

You’ll be learning some vital strategies you’ll need to implement in order to alter your mind set and ultimately your business results.

Mind Set Strategies

Everything begins in the mind, and all that you say or do reflects back to your thoughts. So the mind is a very powerful tool, make sure to use it constructively and for the good of all concerned; not for evil…it works both ways. Remember this, thoughts are the only thing that the mind possesses.

Unfortunately, that one thing, called thought, can be extremely complicated to comprehend. Which explains why the results in most peoples lives down right suck! You see, first of all, when I refer to the mind I’m also referring to the body and spirit too!

It’s all connected…mind, body, and spirit. Anyway, I’ll cut to the chase regarding mind set strategies so you can start implementing to increase your business, it’s just that this topic is so deep that I could write a book about it. Never the less, to help you understand this better, from the beginning, you weren’t taught how to think, imagine that, just how to do.

Then as you were growing up, same thing, the school system got a hold of you, then college (if you went) etc. It all boils down to YOU not thinking for yourself. Let me get back on track before I start to go off!

Back to your thoughts…when something good, bad, or indifferent happens, you probably react to it by DEFAULT, and never stop to assess why it happened. Well, deep down inside you, at a subconscious level, you made it happen; believe it or not. So, as far as the strategies go, you must be AWARE of your thoughts at a conscious level (all the time) in order to reap the desired outcome you want.

So start by getting in a quiet room, no distractions, sitting comfortably with your eyes closed, breathing a little deeper than normal, and start to visualize what you want to be, do and have. In addition, you must TRAIN your mind to DIRECT your thoughts consciously, sequentially, and constructively. You must also add EMOTION and FEELING to the equation or you’ll NEVER manifest your desired outcome. Sounds simple enough, NOT!

However, this is what separates the haves from the haves not. Again, visualizing by itself won’t manifest what you want. This DAILY exercise must be done, starting out, for about twenty minutes a day; then increase the minutes incrementally as you progress.

Rumor has it that a certain rock band “runs their energy” (as I like to call it) close to three hours a day. They obviously understand the power of this “mind stuff” all too well. Yes, it’s going to take a lot of practice and COMMITMENT on your part. But, what worth while doesn’t?

In essence, after all those years of your parents and societies conditioning, (brainwashing) you’re going to transform and BREAK through to manifest the desired result of your perfectly run marketing system and anything else in life for that matter. I must point out that while running your energy, you MUST consciously block out all negative thoughts from the time you were a toddler to the present. VERY IMPORTANT: All of this negativity is stored in your subconscious.

It’s imperative that you draw all of this out of your subconscious (storage unit) or you will be getting the same mediocre results and all of what you’ll be working on will be done in vain…I can’t emphasize how important it is to practice this. Also, as you’re going about your day, run the same exercise in your mind, as described above, when you can, as you were when you alloted certain quiet time for it. Eventually, the picture will become clearer the more you do this…that’s what you want to happen!

You’ll be amazed at the results especially after each sit down session. Repetition is the first law of learning. All of this will increase prosperity in your personal and network marketing business life.

So, there you have it, I hope you’re starting to realize that the correct thought process is so crucial for any desired result to manifest in your life. Remember, that it’s mind set before skill set. Your skill set will eventually materialize, but, ONLY after your mind set is on the right track, NOT before.
